Mark Myer

Mark always enjoyed working with his hands and being creative. From his very first pottery class in high school he was intrigued with the idea of taking a raw material and creating literally anything from it. The endless possibilities spurred on his creativity and he's been enjoying the process ever since.

His wife purchased his first wheel in the fall of 2008. Without a permanent place to throw and not prioritizing time, he only made a handful of pieces in the years to follow, all the while trying different forms in the search for his identity in the vast world of ceramics. He eventually set up shop in the garage and with the addition of a new bigger kiln, he made a resolution to begin creating more. That was 2013, and by the following year he had stepped into the world of carving clay. The day he started carving clay was the day he realized he had found his passion in ceramics.

Mark always enjoyed beautiful patterns and designs and the process of carving them into clay is very calming and enjoyable for him. He loves seeing how the glazes respond to the variations of textures and patterns. He loves making something out of nothing. He loves the process and how it forces him to slow down a little in this busy life. He loves opening the kiln to see what has become of his work. He loves seeing a piece leave his hands to be enjoyed by others. And if all that he does brings a sense of awe, a smile to one's face, a desire to create... well that makes this all the more fulfilling for him.
